Culture
As well as the typical cultural events, a variety of annual festivals are held in and around Marbella, mainly between June and October. Festivals dedicated to music include the Marbella International Opera Festival, Marbella Reggae Festival and the Marbella International Film Festival all held around the city. During the summer months there are also a number of Religious festivals that take place across the region, you can see flamenco processions, enjoy fairs, taste traditional local cuisine all while honouring the Saints. The city also boasts a number of Museums including artwork from Picasso and Miro Dali, archaeological collections an even a museum dedicated to the Bonsai Tree. Don't forget to visit the 'Old Town' part of the city, steeped in history and away from the glamour of the mew Marbella you will get a true feel of how Marbella grew to become the city is it today.
Golden Mile
Marbella is well known for attracting some of the wealthiest families in the world to its shores and there is plenty to do and see that allows you to indulge in the jet-set lifestyle. Start in Marbella and head towards the Golden Mile, a stretch of 4 miles between Marbella and Puerto Banus where some of the most luxurious residences in Marbella as well as landmark hotels are located. Along this golden coastline the sea will be awash with yachts and the roads full of Bently's and Aston Martins. You can enjoy a champagne cocktail in one of the many bars while people watching....just keep an eye out for George Clooney, Antonio Banderas or Rick Parfitt all to be rumoured residents of Marbella.
